How Much is a Play Structure?

For a high-quality outdoor play structure, you should expect to pay anywhere from 5,000 to 150,000 dollars, with a median price of around 30,000 dollars.

Consider the Cost Breakdown

Though no two playgrounds are the same, the different costs associated with purchasing and installing a playground remain pretty consistent. In general, you should expect the cost of the purchased playground equipment itself to account for around 60 percent of your overall cost, depending on the equipment you purchase. Installation and delivery costs will be the next highest budget items, making up 18 and 9 percent of the total cost, respectively. Lastly, costs associated with site preparation, landscaping, and surfacing combine for around 13 percent of the total budget. When planning for a play structure, one should carefully consider one’s budgetary and time constraints, and make a rough timeline detailing how much money one will need to spend, and when it should be spent.

Funding Resources

Acquiring the money needed to fund your playground is possible thanks to the myriad organizations, both public and private, who offer grants for parks and playgrounds across the nation. To learn more about these groups and the resources they provide, visit our grant guide page.

Consider Installation

Unless you have the manpower and knowledge to properly install your new commercial playground equipment, it’s crucial to hire professional playground installers who are trained to work with the heavy materials and tools needed to properly install playground equipment. When it comes to finding the right playground installer, one thing you should look for is whether the installer in question has been certified by the Consumer Product Safety Commission, or CPSC for short. It’s also important to ensure that the installers you use are reputable. To do this, look up their names on google before you hire them, and read any reviews you might find. If an installer seems to be well-reviewed, they’re more than likely a safe bet.

Find the Right Folks for the Job

Don’t make the mistake of assuming playground installation is simply a matter of brute force and willpower, or just something that can be done by anyone with no training; when it comes to playground equipment, proper installation is carried out by trained professionals who know what they’re doing. Trying to single handedly install an entire playground or even just a play structure is extremely hazardous and is not recommended.
